You’ve found a rental with enough bedrooms. Someone has claimed the best bathroom. The group chat has entered its spreadsheet phase.
Now you need something memorable to do together once everyone gets there.
Vacation-rental bachelorette entertainment can bring the evening’s main event to your group. A private magic show gives friends a shared experience around a table, with comedy, audience participation, and optional visits from very questionable company.
I’m Timothy Starnes, a Charlotte-based magician, necromancer, and comedy conjurer. I travel for bachelorette parties in Asheville, Lake Lure, Myrtle Beach, Savannah, and beyond. Before you book a performance at a rental, these are the details to settle.
Confirm the property allows your actual plans
Ask before booking entertainment. A house that sleeps your group may still have separate rules about visitors, gatherings, vendors, parking, and quiet hours. Be clear that you’re considering a private bachelorette celebration with a visiting professional magician.
Check both the host’s requirements and the booking platform’s policies. Airbnb’s Community Disturbance Policy prohibits disruptive gatherings and open-invite parties. Vrbo’s Disruptive or Unauthorized Events Policy also addresses events that breach house rules, occupancy limits, or neighborhood expectations. A host’s approval does not replace the platform rules.
Describe the guest count, proposed hours, and whether anyone will visit who isn’t staying overnight. Keep the response with your trip arrangements. If the property doesn’t allow your plan, choose an appropriate venue instead.
The magician should be the suspicious arrival. The booking itself should be straightforward.
Count the people who will be watching
Send the expected audience size, including any local friends joining the celebration. Everyone taking part in my show should be 18 or older.
For comedy close-up magic and con-game entertainment, we’ll discuss how people can gather at a dedicated performance station. For a séance, I suggest 10–15 guests, or as many as your dining table can comfortably accommodate.
A listing’s sleeping capacity does not tell us how well a group can see a performance. Twelve beds and six dining chairs present a different planning problem from twelve seats around one table.
Look at the room, the table, and the seating
My basic working setup is three chairs and a table, or a coffee table with ample audience seating in front and to the sides. Send a description of the room or photos of the proposed area so we can discuss where the performance belongs.
Consider the view from the seats, space to approach the station, and the route people will use to reach food or drinks. A table in the middle of the kitchen’s main walkway may be convenient for exactly one person: whoever wants everyone to move.
I don’t use a sound system. Tell me about nearby music or other activity so we can plan a comfortable setting. We’ll confirm arrival and setup timing before the event. If furniture needs moving, check with the property owner first.
Choose the show before filling every hour of the itinerary
My typical party visit runs one to two hours, with adjustable performance lengths. Parties outside the Charlotte, NC area have a two-hour minimum. A theatrical séance requires two hours.
Share your check-in time, dinner plans, any toasts, and the time you intend to leave for another activity. Allow enough room in the plan for the group to arrive and settle in. A performance scheduled at the exact moment eight people are expected to finish getting ready is an ambitious work of fiction.
You can choose traditional comedy magic, con-game swindles, bar bets, dice magic, or a séance. Read which magic show fits your adult party if the group hasn’t settled on a format.
Send the actual destination and property details
If you’re planning a bachelorette weekend in Asheville or Lake Lure, send the property’s location, access information, and the room you want to use. For Myrtle Beach or Savannah, the same details help me understand the travel and setup. The address matters more than the destination’s name on the group itinerary.
Once the venue is confirmed, tell me about parking, entry instructions, stairs, or any vendor procedures that affect arrival. I’ll discuss availability, travel arrangements, and any related costs with you before booking.
My performance rate is $500 per hour. The two-hour minimum applies outside the Charlotte area. Send the location so we can confirm the full booking details.
A useful first message takes about a minute
For a private bachelorette magic show, send:
- Your event date and preferred performance time.
- The city, rental or venue, and whether permission has been confirmed.
- The number of adult guests and a description of the table and seating.
- The performance style you’re considering and the bride’s appetite for attention.
- Any dinner, departure, or property-rule constraints we should plan around.
I’m best known for Timothy Starnes & His Many Night Visitors, my touring comedy séance, and I’m also a trained comedy and bar magician. The séance is theatrical entertainment, not a mediumship reading. You can include it, choose a traditional magic show, or ask about a mix.
See my bachelorette party entertainment options, then text Tim your date, location, and guest count.
Bring the friends. I’ll bring the questionable company. Please tell the host I’m coming.
